Hello — I'm Terri Jones

I create portraits of the people, pets & places you love

Commissions

Clients come to me to create an artwork that is unique, that is symbolic of a time/place/emotion, that is created with love and treasured thereafter.

I studied oil painting, portraiture and figurative painting at Heatherley's School of Art in Chelsea.

I work in oils, acrylics, pastel and pencil – the chosen medium for a piece depends on the client's preferences and budget.

My paintings and drawings grace the walls of homes and businesses in the UK, France, Sweden, Italy, Canada, USA and Australia.

I've had work hung in a Royal Academy show and I've won the 'Best Oil Painting' prize at the prestigious Chelsea Art Society Show. I also have a Prime Ministerial Commission in my portfolio...

Testimonials

Tom at the FA Cup – children's portrait
From Anne: "We wanted to commemorate a very special day for our son Tom, who was lucky enough to win a football competition. The prize was to walk out with the FA Cup for the FA Cup final at Wembley and a photo of the occasion did not seem enough. Terri has created an amazing piece of artwork which has captured the moment brilliantly. You can clearly see the look of delight on Tom's face and the pride he had on the day. Terri kept us up to date on her progress with regular emails and we were truly amazed with the result. We will definitely be asking Terri to draw our other son Luke in the near future".
From Tom: "I love my drawing and will cherish it forever. The day was a dream come true and the drawing will always remind me of it"
Colleton School – pool mural
"I wanted to write and say how very pleased we all were with the wonderful marine mural that you produced for our school pool. Your two windows full of fish and creatures is a constant delight to all the children and sets the scene beautifully. I also want to thank you for your ideas and input into the rest of the restoration project. Without your help it would not look anything like it does now, or have finished on time. Fantastic!" – Ali Oliver, Chair CSA (Colleton Primary School Parent Teacher Association
Derek – cat portrait
"Terri came to meet our cat and indeed, sat on the floor with him and gained his confidence. Then she took masses of photographs and discussed the setting. Next, we saw preliminary sketches with a final view before the picture was sealed. Are we pleased? Absolutely. She has exactly caught the individuality of our much loved pet. Everyone loves the portrait which is in a prime position. We valued Terri's thoroughness and personal attention – not photos sent in an envelope!" Sue Tindall, Twyford
Heloise & Isabelle Bach, Katya & Saskia Bach – double children's portraits
"I chose to have my four daughters drawn in a matching pair of double portraits. They are the first portraits I have ever commissioned and Terri made it very easy. She gave regular email updates and the final results were excellent. She captured all my daughters' looks and spirits and while I have countless photographs of them, these drawings are really special. Definitely worth the money. Thank you Terri." – Susannah Bach, Henley
Raisin – dog portrait
"I wanted a portrait of Raisin while she is young and energetic. I asked you if you'd paint her, not knowing quite how you'd show her personality. The painting is wonderful – you have really captured her well. And the feel of the painting is great – all our friends comment on it. Thanks Terri." Mark Wilce, Amersham
John & Nona's Plantation – adult portrait
"I was really pleased when I gave this picture to the friends who are in the picture, it captures them perfectly. From the photo, which contained key items from their life, Terri created a picture which brings them together and conveys the moment and them brilliantly. The process from photo to picture was a happy one, regular updates from Terri kept me aware of where she was in the process, so if there were any issues (which there weren't) there was plenty of opportunity to discuss them and find the way forward. Thankyou Terri." Kay Hallam, Leicester

Contact / Process

If you're thinking about commissioning an artwork, drop me an email with your name, phone number and a few details about what you're after and I'll give you a call back.

Email me

The process of creating a commission is very collaborative to ensure clients get what they want.

We discuss the vision and meaning behind the piece, develop ideas for the design, and then I'll create a painting or drawing to deliver that vision and meaning. There are opportunities to see the work in progress and give feedback. What we're aiming for is a shared feeling of joy in the finished piece – the feeling that it's just how we envisaged it to be at the start, only better!

I normally meet clients to make sketches, take photos and work out the commission details. If that's not possible we can do things by phone, or email and I can work from photos you already have.
